To arrive in Bali, everyone needs a visa. However, there is a simplified procedure that allows you to get a visa upon arrival without ordering one beforehand. This is called VOA – VISA ON ARRIVAL.
It costs only $35, and the process of obtaining it is quite simple:
1 – Disembark from the plane.
2 – Proceed to the document control area.
3 – Wait in line (approximately 1.5 to 2 hours on average).
4 – Pay $35. It must be in dollars, so prepare this amount in advance.
5 – Receive a stamp in your passport for 30 days.
Not all countries have the option to obtain this visa. As of the date of writing this article (June 2023), there are around 80 countries on this list.
Full list:
One week before your visa expires, you can contact the immigration center to extend your VOA for another 30 days, and the cost will be approximately the same: $35..
And that's it. The maximum duration of this visa is 30 + 30 days. After that, you must leave the country.
If you initially plan to stay on the island for more than 60 days and dislike standing in lines (sometimes they can take up to 4 hours, and this is after a long flight), it’s better to apply for a V211 visa right away. More details about this can be found HERE - https://bali-legal.com/en/visa-bali-en.
This option is also cheaper for long-term tourists, and you won’t need to leave the country. To apply for the V211 visa, click on the link below.
